Wambling Gamer Podcast #5- Getting real

On May 23, 2010, in Podcast, by Nick Coffman

No one likes when parents fight in front of their children. Well, this episode almost became that. Sure, there’s the news wrap-up, a chat about the game of the week ActRaiser 2, a first impression segment by none other than Max “Chill-Zone” Petersen, some chatter on Metal Slug 3 held over from last week, and the reveal of Max getting a TurboGrafx-16 (look for a review on the site some time soon). ActRaiser 2 talk seems to trend toward actually talking about the original ActRaiser, which is much better, and discussion of Metal Slug 3 tends to get us talking about Contra, which is… well… moving on.

Shit gets real though after the end song wherein Max and I break up Paul and John style with our trusty recording software Pamela Beasley playing the part of Yoko. In the end we get it together and take the show in a new direction. It’s the podcasting equivalent to those old Warner Bros cartoons where the cobbler wakes up to find elves making all his shoes for him. In this analogy you’d be the cobbler, our show is the shoes and we’re the elves. Show notes, links and my final score on Metal Slug 3

after the break.

If you wanna try out next weeks game with us it will be Keith Courage in Alpha Zones for the TurboGrafx 16! If you need tips or have questions or suggestion be sure to send an email or tweet at us.

Wambling Gamer Podcast #2- Low Energy

On May 2, 2010, in Podcast, by Nick Coffman

I love you guys, but sometime, I just feel down. Maybe it was our game of the week, Snatcher for the Sega CD, maybe it was the mountains of school work or new job or bad fingernail health that had gotten me down but the podcast suffered for it. We’ll chalk the low energy start up to growing pains. The show is a bit more manageable this time, a slim 1:55. That’s near an hour’s savings! Also a nice touch this episode, foresight and editing! Think of this as our middle child. No one loves it as much as the first or third one but you’re not allowed to say that or you’ll make me cry. If you’d like to play along next week with our chosen retro game it’ll be Crystalis for the NES.

Show notes and other info after the break.

Times they are a changing

On April 24, 2010, in What I'm Up To, by Nick Coffman

you moused over, horray!

Now, I don’t want to scare anyone, but the site as it is right now is poised for a “relaunch” or sorts. Don’t panic! I am staying (I know, you’re welcome), but now in addition there will also be a new member to the writing staff, one Rayek (aka Max, aka the 16-bitter, aka knuckles4ev4r, aka Sega Fanboy, aka Masshole, aka the Alabama Chiltlin Pimp). He was appropriated in a joint deal with Frito-Lay and a draft pick for the Kansas City Chiefs wherein we stole him right out of Activision’s hands. Take that Bobby!

With the expansion comes a shift in focus from “Whatever the hell I want” to the slightly harder to anticipate “Whatever the hell we want.” Some new features are also in the works but not yet ready to be elaborated on (since most don’t have names yet). One thing to look out for is “prime real estate” commenting, meaning if I want to say something I’m not going to post a comment like some unwashed mass, no, I’m gonna put the final word right there at the bottom of the post. That way you the reader get to see the strings, as it were, of this magnificent puppet show.

Some more words to be presented to you out of context. Multimedia. Podcast. Retro. Take that all in, nerds.

I love you,

Nick Coffman

Speaking of that brand-new uber comment feature, booyah. This is Max, AKA Rayek, the other brand new feature, so fresh and so clean (clean), here to offer the first “Last Word”.

I came from this other blog that I used to write on. Don’t look at it. It’s old, horrible, and hosted by Blogger. (Actually, do, because it’s a good archive of my writing on gaming thus far.)

Blowin’ up like you thought I would

On September 21, 2009, in What I'm Up To, by Nick Coffman

blowin-up

Going back to school, poor as hell, no job worth mentioning and trying to write for 3 sites a day. Yeah, you heard me, 3. I now am a weekday editor for InsulinFunk or the ‘Funk to those in the know. Feel free to read that every day and give money to them and me, whatever.

I am also on the second newest JPAGP discussing my soul searching journey to Massachusetts and beyond. In this example “beyond” replaces The Mall of America for dramatic effect. I hope it helped. Feel free to google me, I am going to write my own Wikipedia up tomorrow.

JPAG Podcast- In which I am a dick

On May 19, 2009, in What I'm Up To, by Nick Coffman

So the episode both of my readers have already heard too much of is finally out, and I was apparently hated or enjoyed or received in a lukewarm fashion. I don’t know. I still, after 21 years of listening to my own voice mails and watching home movies, hate the sound of my own voice. Feel free to tell me I did a good job in person, but it only counts if you say it in the comments, where I can treasure it always.

Note- Before half (Allison) of my readership revolts, I did play Perfect Dark a lot so suck it.
