So the Super-Elite has been unleashed. Previously unconfirmed speculation about the existence of an incredibly large and as far as I can tell useless hard drive have finally been confirmed. Don’t get me wrong, there are ways to fill up a 120GB hard drive but as far as I can tell unless you’re either too busy for some simple data management or are actually trying desperately to do so then it’s not an issue. I meditated with a laser-focus on the whole idea and just couldn’t imagine the use. My mind reeled, “maybe if you bought every Rock Band and Guitar Hero song… not enough.” I just don’t know.
Edit- Since starting this article the 250 GB Forza bundle and the Elite Halo 3 ODST bundle have both been announced. What is the world coming to?
Where do we go from here? There once were 2 Xbox 360 versions, the Pro and the Core. Then the Core became the Arcade and the Elite was announced. Halo 3 arrived with its own version and 3 new version have been announced in as many days. Now we find out that with the recent price drop the Pro is no longer being made. Really. 8 version total, 4 are for a limited time only, and 2 no longer exist. If I weren’t trying to get paid to follow it you’d be as confused as hell. This is all forgetting the red Resident Evil 5 and yellow Simpson’s movie versions.
We live in a world of customization, everyone wants things their way, but when is it important enough to spend hundreds of dollars on a new color? Excuse my presumptuousness but wouldn’t people who are that infatuated with the console this far into the life cycle already own one? Right now the Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Xbox 360 pre order is 11 on Amazon’s video game section, 2 spots short of the Wii. Who are these people running out en Mass to buy their second pretty paint job in a job market like this? I get a stomach ache just thinking about it.
I don’t have any answers, I am mostly just venting about nothing. I suppose if I could actually find someone who re-ordered it I might be able to crack the shell of such an illusive but copious personality type. Thus begins step two, the hunt.

Well, Nick, there are plenty of ways to fill up a 250 gb hard drive. Not things i do necessarily, but its possible. Also, I think you are projecting a bit. Some folks have money they waste. Its stupid and it sucks.
Also, who cares if there are like 7 different versions of the xbox? I guess the simplicity of one console is nice, but with the advent of hard drives being in consoles it means they will stratify the market in order to create the feeling of "options." It has worked in many other industries, so why not do it in the console space?
Anyways, whatever, just buy a ps3. AMIRITE?
I know it's stupid and it sucks, I think all I did in the post was complain about it. A worthwhile article would have offered solutions but I don't have those. I defy you to think of a non-ridiculous use of 250 GB on a console.
The fact that there are 7 different "versions" of the same console annoys and upsets me to no end. It's a waste of everyone's time.
I will more then likely never buy a PS3. It's not fanboyism, I just don't see it in my future for quite some time, too long to still be banking on me being alive then. I'll budget to but it the day the earth is conveniently scheduled to end.
